Q:What happened to the experience marks in CIP 2026?

The experience marks (for BHUs, RHCs, DHQ/THQ hospitals, jail hospitals) have been discontinued for the June–July 2026 induction as per the 17 March 2026 notification. Similarly, the matric/FSc marks and parent institute preference have also been removed from the scoring criteria.

Q:How is JCAT merit calculated for CIP?

JCAT merit is based on your percentile score: above 70th to 75th percentile = 5 pts, above 65th to 70th = 4 pts, and 60th to 65th = 3 pts. Unlike FCPS-I which rewards early attempts, JCAT rewards higher percentile performance.

Q:What is the CIP merit score formula for Punjab PG Residency 2026?

The CIP merit score is calculated out of 30 points: MDCAT (2 pts), MBBS/BDS aggregate (15 pts), university positions (3 pts), house job (5 pts), and FCPS-I or JCAT (5 pts). The formula is based on the Punjab SH&MED notification dated 17 March 2026.

The minimum score varies by specialty and induction. Competitive specialties like Surgery and Medicine typically require scores above 22–24/30. Use the CIP calculator above to check where you stand and compare with previous merit lists.

Q:What is the CIP score for completing house job at your own college hospital?

If you completed your house job at a hospital attached to your own medical or dental college (in Punjab), you receive the maximum of 5 points. All other recognized teaching hospitals — including those in other Punjab institutions, outside Punjab, or for foreign graduates — receive 2.5 points.
